The Royal Navy Royal Marines Surf Association run several beginner/improver weekends each year. The weekends are often run on Gwithian beach in Cornwall, although this venue may change if the conditions are deemed unsuitable.

The aim of the weekend is:

  • To promote and introduce personnel to the exciting sport of surfing

  • To further improve skills of personnel who have previously spent some time in the water

  • To provide a programme that enables Service personnel and their dependants valuable time for respite.

The weekend includes, within its price;

  • 6 hours of surf instruction from fully qualified coaches and lifeguards (2 sessions on the Saturday and 1 on the Sunday)

  • All equipment necessary will be provided (i.e. board, and wetsuit), however participants are encouraged to bring their own wetsuits, boots and gloves if available

  • Temporary membership to the RNRM Surf Association

  • A barbecue on the Saturday night

There are plenty of campsites, hostels and hotels in the local vicinity, although we as a club do not organise group bookings.

Things to keep in mind:

  • Warm/change of clothing in case of inclement weather

  • Sunscreen in the event of hot weather

  • PARENTING – Participants must be over the age of 8, and any children under the age of 16 will require parental supervision. All parents are reminded that this weekend is a highly active weekend.

  • Club merchandise will be available for purchase

Once you have submitted your electronic application form we will e-mail you with payment details.

The cost of the weekend is currently £45 per person.

If you would like to attend one of these than you can either complete the form online or download it and send via email.
